What is government? When this question is asked, most people respond by equating government solely to a centralized civil State. Even our language reflects the confusion: “Government? It’s in Washington,” or “The government will take care of its citizens through its many programs.” Both of these statements reflect a misunderstanding of the true nature of government. They portray the idea that the only governing institution is a political one. Historically, however, the term “government” was always qualified in some way, unlike our present-day definitions.

Anyone who professes to be a follower of Jesus,
must “arise and shine, for his light has come! 53
What Isaiah means by this is that we are to shine the light of God’s Word before our non-Christian neighbors through our words and lifestyle so they can see a godly antidote to their self-centered ways. For example, since only God’s Word works, and man’s word only fails, any civil laws we have that are based exclusively upon man’s wisdom will fail, with only those civil laws that conform to biblical truths leading to personal liberty and peace. This is what Jesus teaches by telling us that as long as we live according to His Word, we will be the “salt,” or preserver, of the earth. 54

Christianity, Culture, and the Unborn |
|
Written by A.J. Ellis

Friday, 05 February 2010 |
|
In the last few decades it seems that significant issues that face our country have fallen by the wayside and become less important to many Christians today. Many believe that the Christian has no business in the political spectrum. Others say that we cannot do anything to change the culture or affect change nationally. Some have come to agree with the way things are, rationalizing that the Bible doesn't have much to say about morality, ethics and culture today. In many respects, the Church has become silent, or at least quite muffled on prominent ethical questions in the United States, and other places. One of the foremost of such issues is abortion. Christian or no, I think that there is a logical argument to be had regarding the issue, and even without the Bible it can be said that abortion is the wrongful taking of an innocent human being's life.
In the following, I predicate the discussion that it need not be mentioned that we as Christians have a duty to stand up in defense of the innocent wherever they are.

Black Children Are an Endangered Species |

Written by Georgia Right to Life - Christian Newswire

Thursday, 04 February 2010 |
|
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga., Feb. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Georgia Right to Life and the Radiance Foundation today announced at a press conference the launch of the Endangered Species Project, an initiative to increase awareness of the impact of abortion on Georgia's minority communities and women.
The campaign began with the placement of billboards in Dekalb and Fulton counties where the majority of abortions occur. According to Catherine Davis, Director of Minority Outreach, over 67% of the abortions in Georgia occur in those two counties. Ms Davis maintains that this is by design.
"Planned Parenthood's Negro Project is succeeding", Davis said. "They targeted blacks in order to control their birthrate, limiting the growth of populations they 'don't want too many of’ as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg revealed was the goal behind Roe v. Wade (Women on the Court, New York Times Magazine, July 2009)."

A Message from Congress: No One Questions Our Authority |
|
Written by Staff @ CNSNews.com

Thursday, 04 February 2010 |
|
(CNSNews.com) - In the history of the United States, Congress has never forced individual Americans to buy any good or service. That would change if the health care bills approved by either the House or Senate ever became law. Each would require individuals to buy a health insurance plan approved by the government.
Since Congress started debating these bills, CNSNews.com has been asking members of Congress: Where does the Constitution authorize Congress to force individuals to buy health insurance?...

How many times have you heard that the Ten Commandments are no longer necessary today? Or that since Christ said that He came to "fulfill the law" (Matthew 5:17), Christians are not obligated to them any longer. Or that the Ten Commandments were given to Israel, not modern America. The list could go on. Many Christians, unaware as they are of the Old Testament, make all sorts of bizarre remarks to avoid facing up to the fact of God's law. The pertinent question has been phrased many different ways, but essentially it is this: "If not God's law, which law? And if not God's law, why not?" In other words, if God's law has been set aside, which one do we put in its place? And, if we claim that God's law is no longer binding on individuals, where do we get our biblical justification for claiming this? The answers have been many and varied, but they have seldom been convincing.

14 Easy Steps For Destroying American Constitutional Republicanism |
|
Written by Bret McAtee - IronInk.org
|
|
Wednesday, 03 February 2010 |
|
1.) Co-opt the Christian church and faith so that it teaches a faith system that is still called Christianity that is inimical to a freedom loving people maintaining the desire to remain free.
2.) View the Constitution as a living document and in doing so completely eviscerate the 9th and 10th amendments as well as the whole notion of separation of powers. This is achieved via Judicial and Bureaucratic fiat.
3.)Eliminate all competing zones of societal sovereignty. Rid family, church, academia, and other parallel institutions of their ability to legislate their respective realms independent of the State.
4.) Criminalize the individual who has been taught critical thinking skills. Attack this individual and his inalienable rights through fiat laws (see #2) that lead to perpetual harassment.

Mormonism's Self-Serving Position on Abortion |
|
Written by William N. Grigg

Tuesday, 02 February 2010 |
|
First, a bit of personal background.
I'm an adopted child, one of six adopted children in my family. I was a young child when Roe was handed down, and public discussion of abortion prompted me to ask my mother what it was. I was stunned and horrified almost beyond expression.
"People couldn't really do that!" I exclaimed.
As a young adult I was very active in the pro-life movement, and on one occasion -- while working with a national pro-life group -- had an audience with a Mormon Church PR official at Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City. Exceptionally well-dressed and adorned with a very expensive coiffure, this gentleman spent an hour or so dancing around the issue of whether abortion was "murder," displaying a grace and agility that Fred Astaire would have envied. |

Scott Brown presents a paradox for the pro-life movement |

Written by Jay Rogers - The Forerunner Weblog

Imagine for a moment if Senator Orrin Hatch from Mormon dominated Republican Utah said, when asked, "Are you pro-life?"
"Yes, I am pro-life. I'm against partial-birth abortions. I'm against federal funding of abortions. And I believe in a strong parental consent notification law."
Remember that position: Pro-life. That is the position of James Dobson and Focus on the Family, the Roman Catholic Bishops, Phyllis Schlafly and the Eagle Forum, Steve Ertelt and National Right to Life. They have each actively opposed or refused to endorse the Personhood initiative -- a strategy for passing state amendments that would recognize the right to life of all human beings from conception to natural death -- thinking that pushing for an outright ban on abortion would be counter-productive at this point in time...

Massachusetts Senator-elect Scott Brown says he has “no regrets” about posing nude for a 1982 Cosmopolitan magazine photo spread. In an exclusive ABC “This Week” interview (January 31), Brown told Barbara Walters “you have to have a sense of humor about yourself,” and links the centerfold to many of his successes that came later in life. “If I hadn’t done that… I never would have been sitting here with you. It’s all connected,” Brown told Walters.
That’s the spin that ABC News puts upon the interview that Barbara Walters did with Scott Brown regarding Brown’s posing nude for a 1982 Cosmopolitan magazine photo spread.

More Details:
The State of the Union Speech is pretty much the State of Obama, on this edition of Generations. Americans aren't happy. The Messiah was a disappointment. And, they're looking for a better socialism. Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner review the top agenda items on the minds of most Americans, as per a recent survey from Pew Research - confirming once more than Americans are solidly socialist, and they are looking for the best socialist leaders that are the most accomplished at promising them salvation from their troubles. |

When God tells us that His Word “is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” 42
He does not add that we are to beat around the bush,
but “with a spirit of gentleness” 43 confront each other
directly with God’s perfect counsel on how to live.
Scripture abounds with metaphors of “light” and “darkness.” Just as creation was originally dark until God said, “Let there be light,” 44 so is the original mindset that each of us brings into this world “darkened” by the effects of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. It could be said that what each of us “sees” depends upon what we’re looking at, and as unregenerate sinners, we see the world through self-centered eyes that only give us a view of our agenda. The result is that we go through life filling up God’s cup of wrath against us by “loving darkness rather than light.” |

What? US Repent? US, Citizens of the World's Greatest Nation? |

“The universe is a moral realm, and every atom in all creation is God-created. Men can never sidestep the religious and moral issues of life; they can blind themselves to them, and regularly do, but this is comparable to a blind man walking on high cliffs without even a cane in hand.” Dr. R. J. Rushdoony, “Sovereignty”
Losers are not popular. Winners write glowing descriptions of victories while the detail of dissent is often lost. Patriotism has surrounded our founding documents and given them a sacrosanctity that defies reality. Used as an occasional political verity our Constitution is regularly ignored by our government but revered by many Christians and patriots. Elected officials take an oath to “preserve, protect, and defend” it, it is quoted, reprinted, and often referred to. The Federalist papers, written in support of the Constitution by promoters of strong centralized government, receive wide publicity while anti-Federalist writings are overlooked.

Will Grigg’s Liberty Minute
Last week the Supreme Court struck down most of the so-called McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. The ruling, which treated corporate contributions to political campaigns as a form of protected “free speech,” triggered widespread outrage from people who insist that money is corrupting politics.
In a refrain echoed by many critics of the ruling, President Obama and the New York Times insisted that lifting restraints on corporate campaign donations represents the death of what they call our “democracy.”

Can I be a Libertarian Without Christ? |

I must start this article with acknowledgments. I took part in the forming of the Libertarian movement in my native country, Bulgaria. I was co-founder and the first Chairman of the Bulgarian Society for Individual Liberty. As such I have many friends who are libertarian but not Protestant—or not Christian at all. I have the privilege of being close friends with many great people unknown to the American public, but whose names will remain as the pioneers of liberty in that small nation on the Balkans. I have agnostic and atheist friends all over Europe who are committed to the cause of liberty as much as I am; and they have consistently fought under its banner for many years.
