'The 9 a.m. service at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral leads off a day of inaugural events and
will include a cross section of the state’s religious leaders.'
'Among those expected to participate in the service are Trinity’s dean, the Rev. Philip C. Linder,
ministers from the United Methodist, African-Methodist Episcopal, Presbyterian and Baptist
denominations and a rabbi from a Columbia synagogue.'

'... Dr. Phil Linder, has openly and publicly expressed his apostate, pro-sodomite beliefs in an Op-ed
printed in Columbia's daily newspaper: "… we believe in the full inclusion of gays, lesbians
and women within the life of the Episcopal Church." (The State, 7/6/06).'

of Upper South Carolina, Dorsey Henderson Jr. ; "Dean" of Trinity Cathedral, Philip Linder; and a female
"priest" also on the Trinity Cathedral staff, Joye Cantrell.
Which came first to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the spirit of Jezebel, or the spirit of Sodom ? Clearly,
both are presently manifest (1 Timothy 2:11-15; Revelation 2:19-25; Genesis chapter 19; Leviticus 18:22;
Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26,27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

'Others of different faiths also urged Sanford to draw on a higher power for guidance.'

'The processional began with the haunting wail of a lone bagpiper. He led religious leaders and
the Sanford family down Trinity’s center aisle, the governor holding the hand of his youngest son.'
'The congregation rose to sing “My Country Tis of Thee” and were called to worship by the
Very Rev. Philip C. Linder, Trinity’s dean.'
'A 16-year-old girl from MUSC’s children’s hospital sang “This Little Light of Mine.”
The Brookland Baptist Church First Sunday Ensemble performed a chorale selection.'
'The Rev. Carlisle Driggers, executive director of the S.C. Baptist Convention, described
Sanford and the state’s other constitutional officers as “good men.” '
' “Grant, O God, that their decisions and actions will honor you and the people of South Carolina.” '
'Outside, three members of Columbia Christians for Life held a banner that declared
“Sodomy is sin” and raised posters disparaging Trinity as a “pro-sodomite Episcopal
Church” and Linder as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” '
[Correction by CCL: Press Release flyers were distributed outside entitled, "Governor Sanford

Law enforcement officials had instructed us to leave the public sidewalk on Sumter Street outside
the Cathedral, and move out beyond the barricades by Gervais Street, claiming the whole street
area was now a security area (even though the Inaugural Prayer Service was open to the public !);
but after risking arrest for non-compliance, in defense of rights of free speech, peaceable assembly,
and freedom of religion, it was worked out where the First Amendment protected activity could
continue, in cooperation with the legitimate security needs of law enforcement.]
'As the Episcopal Church wrestles with issues of sexuality, Linder has argued that the
church must be a welcoming place for all, including homosexuals. But the leader of
Columbia Christians for Life, Steve Lefemine, said the church is endorsing wickedness.'
'As the crowd exited, Sanford and Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer each acknowledged Lefemine. Bauer told
Lefemine he didn’t always agree with him, “but I appreciate you all being out here.” '

where the "Sodomy Is Sin" sign is being displayed. Shortly after this picture was
taken, Governor Sanford suddenly walked directly over to where Steve Lefemine,
Ed Harper, and Ken Letton were standing, and spoke to us briefly. He shook hands,
said we should have heard the sermon inside by Mr. Gregg Surratt, and heard Lefemine's
admonishment about the choice of venue for the Governor's Inaugural Prayer Service.

Have ‘courage to act,’ pastor urges Sanford
By CAROLYN CLICK
[excerpt]
[emphasis added]
Gov. Mark Sanford was urged to “be strong and courageous” as he began his second inauguration
day with prayer and reflection.
“You need the courage to be humble, the courage to listen, and, let me give you one more,
the courage to act,” the Rev. Gregg Surratt told the governor, a longtime friend.
Surratt, pastor of Seacoast Christian Community Church in Mount Pleasant, delivered
the inaugural sermon at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, across the street from the Capitol.
